What does the word Enology (also known as Oenology) mean?

Thoughts for rainy days: my Major

Lot's of people, upon hearing what my major is (usually I have to skip the "Enology" portion and just say "Wine making") say something along the lines of "Oh, that's cool.  I haven't heard of that.  How did you get into it?"  They usually seem confused, or better yet, sometimes people who go to school here don't even know we have a winery on campus.  Come on, people, where do you think all that wine in BevMo comes from?  Think air?

I don't have a normal major, like Physics, or Engineering, or English, or Chemistry, or even Art, so sometimes people don't know what to do with me.  "Oh, wow, you must drink wine all the time!" Well, not really since I'm not even 21 yet.  "What kind of classes do you have to take?" Lot's of Chemistry, let me tell you that.  Enough Chemistry that at Graduation I would be three units of Chemistry away from a Minor in it, so I said what the heck and signed up for a Chem Minor (even though my mom used to think minors were worthless).

I love Enology because it's two parts Chemistry and one part Art.  It has just enough physical labor tied to it to keep me on my toes, and enough planning that I'll be able to make lots and lots and lots of check lists.  Also, there's a good chance I'll be able to live n the country or just on the edge of a city, the thought of which makes me very, very happy (I would like a horse when I'm older, but I'll settle for an ATV and a pack of dogs).

Welp, that's all for now.  Talk to you later!
