Definition of my Childhood

I saw The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring today in concert.

What the above sentence fails to capture is my extreme giddiness over this movie.  As a child, my father read all of the Lord of the Rings books to me (we started with the Hobbit, and read one chapter a night until we were finally finished) and when The Fellowship of the Ring came out he took me to see it.  I remember him telling me at a point towards the end of the movie that we would have to leave, because we hadn't gotten this far in the book yet and he didn't want to spoil it for me.  He, of course, was kidding.

The heart of the matter is that The Lord of the Ring's trilogy influenced my life and who I am now almost as much as Pokemon did, if not more.  I have a deep love of fantasy and a love of writing, probably because of these books.  I was overjoyed when I was able to get my hands on a ticket (a FREE one at that!) and be able to see the movie with a live orchestra and choir.  The music is so moving and strong and beautiful that I might just go out and buy the soundtrack as soon as I am able to.
